Odunayo Adekuoroye defeated the delight of the tournament, Anshu Anshu of India 10-0 via technical superiority to claim GOLD in the 57kg for Team Nigeria at the Ranking Series Tournament in Rome.

Anshu ANSHU took out reigning 59kg world champion Linda MORAIS (CAN), 10-4, in the 57kg at the quarterfinals warming the heart of fans in the tournament.

She has won a medal in every world/continental/international tournament she has participated barring two. She took 5th at junior worlds and Asian in 2018.

Adekuruoye had qualified for the final of the Ranking Series Tournament of 57kg category of the wrestling tournament after beating Allison Ragan in the last 4 10-3 at the semifinals.

The Commonwealth gold winner and Aminat Adeniyi had moved to the quarter finals of the Ranking Series Tournament in Rome after impressive wins in the earlier rounds of the competition.

Nigeria’s Odunayo Adekuoroye a day later outclassed Arianna Carieri of Italy 10-0 via superiority to book a place in the semi-finals of the Matteo Pellicone Ranking Series Tournament in Rome.

It was another medal for Nigeria in Rome some minutes later as Blessing Oborududu claimed bronze beating Alina Makhynia of Ukraine in the 68kg class.

The 2020 Ranking Series will influence the top four seeds at the Tokyo Olympic Games, which will mark the first-time wrestling has used the Ranking Series to seed at the Olympics. With weight classes limited to 16 entries per weight, 25-percent of each category will be seeded, ensuring fans will enjoy several premier matchups in the semifinals and finals.

Ranking Series points are collected from finishes from the World Championships, Continental Championships, and Ranking Series events.
