The rescheduled game of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) between Nasarawa United and Kano Pillars ended goalless after ninety minutes of regulation time.

Even though Pillars in the game had the edge with chances that would have killed the game, the Lafia Boys held their own at home to get a point.

The boxing day draw against Nasarawa means Kano Pillars has now extended their unbeaten and clean sheet run against Nasarawa United in the NPFL to 5 matches.

It was the away side that seemed likely to score from the blast of the whistle till the end even though Junior of Nasarawa drew the first blood with a shot that led to the first corner of the game for the home side.

As the game progressed, the likes of Ali, Alaekwe had their chances but were poor in the final third for Pillars.

Anas of Nasarawa came close a couple of times but it was still Pillars that seemed deadly to score in the first half. A glorious chance came in the thirty-six minutes but Mayaiki saved his teammate and keeper Galadima the blushes by clearing the ball after the custodian fails to deal with an aerial ball.

The referee signalled the end of the first half after forty-five and one minutes played in the game.

The second half started strong with Pillar’s Nyima Nwagua got his first shot on target after Rabiu Ali’s attempt had been saved for a corner.

Sai Magida’s pushed forward to score but all to no avail as they had to settle for a draw at the Lafia City Stadium.

The Nasarawa United vs Kano Pillars match today was the first NPFL match on Boxing Day since 2001.

The next games are the NPFL match day eleven fixtures which will come up on Sunday, 29th December at eight centres instead of ten due to Enyimba’s and Ranger’s continental engagement.
