It’s one of those oriental derbies that catches the fancy; Enyimba of Aba against Heartland FC of Owerri in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The match day fifteen encounter sees two eastern sides in an unusual positions of sixteenth position for the home side and eleveenth for the away side.

In the past, the match has proven to be a tricky tie one that has seen the People’s Elephant get just a win in their last six meetings with three draws and two wins going to Heartland FC.

This time, the die is cast and Enyimba knows a win is of high importance in order to awaken their chances of getting something reasonable at the end of the 2019/2020 season.

After the emphatic win against Paradou FC at the Caf confederations cup, it’s time to set the ball rolling in the league especially with a new coach at the helm for the eight time champions.
Heartland have not had it good either as they have been blowing hot and cold with their five recent matches ending in a win, a loss, a win and two consecutive losses.

In view of the home tie, Enyimba have only dropped points at home once this season drawing to Lobi Stars 1-1 while Heartland have been able to get only won win away this season against Kwara United.

It’s sure going to be a tough tie and Enyimba gaffer, Fatai Osho knows this and urges his players not to get carried away with the victory at the weekend while speaking with Opera

“I think they will be ready for the Wednesday match, but we have to be wary of the fact that when you play an international team like this and you are able to get this type of result you should be careful so it doesn’t result into superiority complex, so that we don’t see ourselves as on top of everybody, to the detriment of the fact that we still have a lot of work to do.

“So we have to tell them and make it known to them that this is gone, and what matters is what is coming up and that should be their target. Paradou for now is not in our picture again so what we have coming at us is Heartland, and we have to look at the Heartland team, give them their due respect and get our result” He said.

It remains to be seen if Enyimba will continue their good run at home this season and get to winning ways or the Naze millionaires will continue to prove a nightmare to the defending Champions in a who-wants-it-most tie.

The match comes up at 4 pm at the Aba Township Stadium.
