The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match day fourteen fixtures get under way today in eight centres after the match day thirteen saw three teams placed on same points with goals difference separating them.
Plateau United, Lobi Stars and Rivers United are all on the same points and have their hands full as they play opponents who could prove to be spoilers.
Plateau United will see their home record threaten as they face in form Akwa United. Abu Maikaba of Plateau will play his former team in a bid to win and in the process end the Uyo side’s roller coaster run with five consecutive wins.
Akwa United’s coach, Kennedy Boboye is coincidentally facing his former side just his counterpart. The two sides have been in top form with two two points separating them. A win for Akwa United will move them to twenty points ahead of Plateau United. Plateau United will want to avoid that.
Lobi Stars of Makurdi go head to head with Lagos side, MFM FC as they seek to continue their perfect home record. Gbenga Ogunbote’s boys are on a high after a vital away win against Adawama at the midweek.
MFM on the other hand got back to winning ways after beating Dakkada International ending their unbeaten away record.
Dakkada International go against Rivers United in Uyo as they seek to get back to winning ways. A win keeps then within top place finish.
Rivers United look to keep the pace on Plateau United and Lobi Stars as they play a Dakkada side that have been good recently even though they lost last week.
At the Okigwe Stadium, it will be Heartland FC hosting Abia Warriors in an oriental derby of some sort. The two sides are in need of a win after last weekend’s loss for Heartland against Warri Wolves and a draw for the Warriors at home against Kano Pillars.
Wikki Tourist with their imminent return to their Bauchi Stadium after 18 months will be gunning for a win against Sunshine Stars of Akure.
The Tourist have not had it smooth recently after a loss and a draw while for Sunshine Stars it’s been a loss and a win in two games.
At Jigawa, it will be two relegation battlers Jigawa Golden Stars and Adamawa United as thy both seek to redeem their season.
Warrior Wolves travel to Nnewi to play Ifeanyi Ubah who have only failed to pick maximum points once at home this season. After suffering a 3-1 loss at Rangers, it’s time to bounce back.
Warrior Wolves also will seek to consolidate on recent form after a point gained in Kano last week and a win at the midweek against Heartland.
Kwara United host Katsina United in Ilorin as they will seek to make it there third win in Ilorin.
Enyimba and Rangers matches have been postponed due to their continental engagement.
