The last group games and last group B games of the WAFU zone A Women’s Tournament on Monday ended with Liberia take the last semifinals spot of the tournament while Mali won to keep a perfect record.
Liberia defeated Gambia two goals to one in the Wusum Mini Stadium to make it to the final four stage.
Liberia scored as early as the first minutes through Kantie Sayee.
Margaret Stewart added another in the thirteenth minutes of the first half to give the Liberian side a two goal lead.
It was not until the 60th minute that the Gambia ladies reduced the deficit with a goal by Adama Tamba.
Liberia qualify after garnering a total of six points in the group.
On the other hand, Mali continued their impressive run in the tournament as they defeated Guinea Bissau by two goals to nil.
A goal in each half of the game by Seynabou Sidibe and Aguissa Diarra gave the Malians the win.
Sidibe scored in the thirty second minutes. While hot striker, Diarra finished off the game with another goal at the dead of full time.
Mali had started their campaign with a six nil thumping over Gambia and trounced Liberia three goals to nil in the second game.
This form makes Mali the best in the tournament so far with eleven goals without conceding non.
The semifinals matches come up on Wednesday 4th March, 2020.
