Rigobert Song is poised to grab his first win at the U-23 Africa Cup of Nation when Cameroon face Ghana in their group A opener on Friday evening at the Cairo international Stadium despite citing lack of time in their build up to the competition.
Cameroon and Ghana who are making their first appearance at the continental football extravaganza clash at the Cairo International Stadium at 21:00.
“Being here [at the tournament] is a great chance for us but what we care about is to continue what we already started,” Song said at the pre-match press conference on Thursday, as reported by Cafonline.
“Every team here has a decent chance because they are all very strong sides. Football is about challenges” he added.
The Cameroon vs Ghana game will also see a return of two coaches-Rigobert Song and Ghana’s Ibrahim Tanko who both worked together in Cameroon.
The former Lions international feels excited about the reunion and says he’s ready to proof his worth.
“Facing my former coach is also a big challenge for me and I want to prove I’m up to it. We didn’t have enough preparations but we will try and give our best.”
Cameroon will face Mali on Monday after their opener against Ghana’s before rounding-off with host Egypt on Thursday.
The tournament kickoffs on November 8-22nd, 2019.
