The second group games in group A of the WAFU A women’s tournament going on in Sierra Leone were played on Thursday.
Senegal defeated Cape Verde in the first match of the day while host nation, Sierra Leone played out a goalless draw Guinea in the second game.
Senegal who had won their first match by beating Guinea two goals to one, got another crucial against Cape Verde to secure qualification to the semifinals.
The Taranga Lionesses scored in the both halves of the game to get the win over the Cape Verde women team.
Mbayang Sow opened score for the West Africans in the 38th minutes of the game while Mama Diop consolidated the win with a goal in the 67th minutes of the game.
Meanwhile, the host nation, Sierra Leone struggled again in their match of this year’s tournament as they played a goalless draw against Guinea on Thursday evening.
They had played the same scoreline against Cape Verde in the first leg leaving them to battle to win in the last game if they are to qualify for the semifinals.
