The U23 lions of Cameroon are traveling to Tunisia with a reduced squad, as compared to what Coach Rigobert Song had in yaounde for the first leg. understands that Goalkeeper Dande Junior has been dropped from the list of 23 players who were in camp in yaounde, alongside Ngede Ngede  Junior and Mbarga Nkene Junior.  All three players did not play the away leg. The traveling group, is made up of 20 players, plus team officials.

Dande Junior was an unused substitute in the away tie in yaounde, as Rigobert Song picked Cotonsport’s shot stopper, Simon Omossola ahead of him. Dande Junior starting on the bench and now being dropped from the squad, has come as a surprise to many, given his performance in the just ended football season in Cameroon.

Dande was a consistent element for Union de Mouvement sportive of Loum, as they pipped Omossola’s Cotonsport on the last playing day, to clinch the league one title and qualified for the CAF Champions League.

After the away game in yaounde, though Dande watched from the bench, he told reporters that “we won, but it wasn’t good because we knew we could do better. We know it’s going to be difficult in the return leg so we will continue working very hard and remain very serene”.

The 21 year old shot stopper, was the only Goalkeeper to have conceded just one goal throughout the playoffs (during UMS’ 1#0 defeat by Apejes), and has arguably the best minutes played and clean sheet ratio, amongst the three Goalkeepers initially called up. The Goalkeeping compartment in the U23 lions, surprisingly is the only aspect of the team that had only home based players, and Rigobert Song will now have to rely on Simon Omossola and to an extent Pierre Sylvain Abogo, during the return leg in Tunisia, on Tuesday.
