The U23 lions of Cameroon last Tuesday, qualified for their maiden AFCON, following an aggregate win over the Carthage Eaglets of Tunisia. It was a star studded Cameroon squad, largely made up of foreign based players, with less than five home based players taking part in the return leg game in Rades.

Tazoh Louis happens to have been in the group that traveled to Tunisia and sealed the historic qualification. Though the young promising left back was an unused substitute in both legs of the game, he is happy being part of the history making U23 squad. In an exclusive with, the 18 year old said “I feel very happy because it is not easy to be selected into the squad. We started training three weeks ago and we put in a lot of work. I was Lucky to be selected in the final squad”.

In four qualifying games played against Chad and Tunisia, on both home and away basis, Tazoh featured, but did not have the opportunity to showcase his savior faire, as he always face stiff competition from Ngah Fabrice, and recently Nouhou Tolo, all plying their trade abroad. Tazoh remains optimistic and is waiting for his chance. “I have the experience already that I can play in big games. I just hope that one day the coach will give me the chance to prove myself and I believe I can do it”, said Tazoh. He added ” if the coach choose to play with my colleague, its still good for the team. Our qualification is all about togetherness. We played together, ate together, did everything together. So that’s the best”.

The U23 AFCON will take place from the 8 to the 22nd of November in Egypt, and Tazoh is ready to fight for his place in the 23 man squad that will represent Cameroon in the competition. “We have just one thing, which is to work hard. If I work hard, I will be part of the squad”.

Tazoh Louis currently plys his trade with Cameroon league one side, AS Fortuna, where he is in his third season with the club. The versatile player says he is enjoying his stay with the center regional outfit. “I’m going to stay with AS Fortuna because it is a great club. I have enough game time there. I had offers from other clubs, even out of the country, but I decided to stay with AS Fortuna”.

Born on December 24, 2000, Tazoh Louis has witnessed a massive progress in his game, through his time with PWD of Bamenda back then in the league two championship, and now with AS Fortuna, in Cameroon’s top tier championship. He was also pre_selected in the Intermediate lions squad ahead last African Nations championship in Morocco. Last season, he was one of the standout left back’s in the Cameroon league one championship, especially at a moment when natural left back’s are scarce in the championship.
