🇨🇲Sad😭: Cameroonian Footballers found dead after dangerous trip to Mamfe.
The Cameroon Football family has been hit with the shocking news of the death of two Footballers, amongst which is former captain of National polytechnic Football club of Bamenda, Monthe Louis.
Since the outbreak of the Anglophone crisis in the country, the football family has been hit on few occasions, such as the kidnapping and eventual release of former YOSA and PWD coaches, Emmanuel Ndoumbe Bosso and Augustine Tchoupo respectively. If the Ndoumbe and Tchoupo survive the scare, it has not been the same story, for these two Footballers, who met their doom, on their way from an inter_quarter competition in Mamfe, one of the areas mostly affected by the crisis in the English speaking regions of the country.
The story as narrated by our sources is that, Monthe Louis and three other players left Bamenda in the Northwest region to Mamfe in the Southwest region, where they took part in an inter_quarter competition last Thursday August 15, 2019. Our sources say on their way back from Mamfe, the vehicle transporting them was attacked in Widikum, by supposed secessionist fighters, commonly referred to as Amba Boys. Our informant revealed that amongst the several vehicles that were plying that stretch of road that fateful day, the purported “Amba Boys”, concentrated mostly on the players, and got them well beaten.
The four players in question, were Fonou Cyril of Yong sports academy of Bamenda, former national polytechnic pair, Monthe Louis, and Ngoufang, and a certain Collins. Kick442.com gathered that apart from these four, the other two occupants of the vehicle were the driver and a certain pastor.
Sources say Fonou Cyril alias Billy sneaked his way back into the car. After a long period of exchange, the supposed secessionist fighters told the driver to take the pastor to Bamenda but detained the players.
Fonou Cyril succeeded in escaping, alongside the driver and the pastor. Monthe Louis and the two other players, who were still in captivity at that moment, were reportedly taken to a nearby bridge where they were kept awaiting further actions from their captors. The three players jumped into the river, Ngoufang reportedly could not swim, so hid himself in a nearby bush. Monthe and Collins, who knew how to swim, continued inside the river, which according to our source, is the biggest river in Widikum. Ngoufang came out of his hiding afterwards, and spent the night with a good Samaritan in Widikum, before returning to Bamenda the following day.
So it was only today Wednesday August 21, 2019, that the dead bodies of Monthe Louis and Collins, were discovered around Batibo. The two might have drowned in the river, and their corpses were deposited on the banks of the river, somewhere around Batibo.
Fonou Cyril sustained serious injuries and lost one of his teeths. For Monthe Louis and Collins, their dreams of making great careers in Football, have been ended abruptly.
