The technical transitional committee running the Cameroon football league, has made some clarifications on the case of New Stars football Club of Douala.
New Stars recently won a case at the Chambers of Conciliation and Arbitration, maintaining them in the league one championship. But since then, FECAFOOT’s Technical Transitional committee has not integrated the littoral based club in the top tier.
Meeting this Friday November 01, 2019, at the federation’s head office in Tsinga, the technical transitional committee came out with a two page communiqué, clarifying doubts on the New Stars Wahala.
In the document, they explained that New Stars effectively took part in the 2018/2019 football season, organized by the then Cameroon professional football league. They further state that competition that year was played in two pools, with the play_off Top and Play_off Down, which New Stars took part, and finished in the last but one spot, the result of the championship which were homologated by homologation and discipline commission of the professional football league, and validated by the board meeting of the defunct organ, on 28 June 2019.
At the end of the championship, New Stars wrote an appeal to the Appeals commission of FECAFOOT, calling for a cancellation of the resolutions of the board meeting. After examining their appeal, the Appeals commission of FECAFOOT on September 04, 2019, cancelled all the resolutions of the said board meeting of the professional football league, on basis that two members who were signatories to the resolution, had lost their legitimacy.
The technical transitional committee says New Stars interpreted the decision as a cancellation of the league one championship for that season, and wrote to FECAFOOT on October 01, 2019, asking for their reinstatement in the league one championship.
FECAFOOT then seek the Appeals commission, to interpret that decision of September 04, 2019. On October 09, 2019, the Appeals commission indicated to FECAFOOT that their decision did not cancel the 2018/2019 football season organized by the Professional football league, but instead the cancelled but the resolutions of the board meeting of 28 June 2019, of the said league.
The Technical Transitional committee met on 11 October 2019, and in their second resolution, validated the results of the 2018/2019 season, and thereafter elaborated their calendar of matches for the new football season, with New Stars programmed in the league two.
New stars then wrote an appeal to the Chambers of Conciliation and Arbitration of the Cameroon Olympic and sports committee against the Cameroon professional football league, without mentioning FECAFOOT. The chambers of conciliation and Arbitration made known their decision in October 2019, maintaining New stars in the league one for the 2019/2020 season.
The technical transitional committee notes that FECAFOOT was never cited as part of the said procedure, rendering the resulting decisions unenforceable to the FECAFOOT. New stars therefore can not ask FECAFOOT to apply a decision which they (FECAFOOT), were not part of it, reasons why The Technical Transitional Committee maintained their calendar of matches.
The Technical Transitional committee says after been relegated to the inferior league based on results obtained on the Field of play, New Stars is trying to stay in the top tier, by an abusive use of the law.
It should be noted that the president of New Stars, Faustin Domkeu was the first Vice president of the Cameroon professional football league, and took part in fixing the rules of the championship last season, so he masters the criteria of promotion and relegation of teams.
The Technical Transitional committee calls for fair play to reign, with the respect of rules.
