Union Sportif of Douala waved aside Eding Sport on match day 21 of the Cameroon League 1, at the Limbe Centenary Stadium.
The game that was tagged the battle of the ‘strugglers’ had a relatively slow start before Union Sportif of Douala picked up to cause all sorts of problems on the set piece, against Eding Sport FC.
Ten minutes into the first half, it was Joseph Iyenjock whose effort from a free kick went narrowly wide before Stanley Echabe’s bullet header was cleared on the goal line by Junior Njoufack, mid way through the first half.
Serge Andoulou on yet another dead ball situation hit the wrong side of the net at the 32nd minute before Eding had her first real chance towards the end of the first half, when Junior Njoufack galloped through the right and put the ball on the plate for Herve Elame who lacked inspiration in front of goal.
Immediately after the first half interval Union Sportif of Douala continued to pile on the pressure; Gerard Bilong came close with a 46 minute header before Union Sportif eventually took the lead through Gerard Bilong after a goalkeeping howler from Janvier Cyni at the 62nd minute.
Eding once more was presented a rare chance with eight minutes gone past the hour mark but second half substitute Giles Vivian put the ball directly into the gloves of Loic Feuajou in what looked like a one on one situation
An impressive Sidiki Aboubakari having made Union’s first goal, brook loose past a weary Dimitry Landry to make it two – nil, 17 minutes from time.
One minute after the second, Joseph Iyenjock benefited from some sickening defending to make it three – nil in favour of USD.
Union Sportif of Douala bounce further clear off the drop zone as they now move up to 26 points, while Eding stay 17th and risk going further down with a resurging AS Fortuna.
