The head of the Technical Transitional Committee, Aboubakar Alim Konate told reporters on Thursday 16th, in a press conference that stadia in Douala are undergoing completion and are still in a fragile state. A fault of any sort could see all the hard work come to nothing.

“The stadia in Douala are modern and almost set. The only problem we have is, our constructors are doing their best to complete but if fans flood the stadia during league games and damage is done, then, our constructors would levy blames on us,” Mister Alim explained.

Douala which acts as the home ground of Union Sportif of Douala, Astres Football Club, Leopard Sportif, New Stars, Dynamo and many more has not been used for a league game for over two years due to the construction and renovation of stadia in the town, in view of the CHAN 2020 and AFCON 2021.

Only national team selections have been able to train on some of the pitches behind closed doors; The indomitable Lions before their AFCON 2021 qualifying game against Rwanda in November 2019 and most recently, the intermediate Lions who are currently camping in Douala.
