2017 Cameroon League 1 champion and goalkeeper of the season Jean Oscar Kalati Gwot has agreed a 1 year deal to return to New Stars of Douala from Avion of Nkam.
34 year old Kalati won the Cameroon League 1 title with Eding Sport de la Lakie but has since then struggled to replicate the title winning performance.
Kalati returns to New Stars where he spent the 2015 season helping the club to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup under coach Anicet Mbarga with whom he won the league at Eding Sport de la Lakie.
The experienced shot stopper was a part of the intermediate lions team that represented the Cameroon at the 2018 CHAN Competition in Morocco and featured in two of Cameroon’s 3 games at the tournament.
Kalati is a likely replacement for first choice keeper Kibyen Lionel who has left the club for Bamboutos FC of Mbouda.
Kalati is the second of New Stars signings on this Sunday as clubs continue to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes this midnight.
Midfielder Lionel Essono completed a switch from Canon Yaounde to the club earlier today.
