PWD social club of Bamenda has continued their excellent run in the Cameroon league one championship, with a 2#0 away win over Colombe of the Dja and Lobo, in Mbankomo.

Colombe came into the game with just two points separating them from second placed PWD. The team from the south dominated proceedings in the first quarter of the game, as goalkeeper Rodrigue Zame pulled some fine saves to keep PWD in game.

Yves Rostand Nguangue, Arnold Boris Mezui and Youssoufa Houzafi provided much movement up front for Colombe, but Francis Elimbi and Hapmo Man Dangmo failed to make the best out of the opportunities.

Alexandre Benga got into the referee’s books following a 44th minute fault on Hulrich Ibakeleki on the edge of Colombe’s box, and his fault proved costly, as Nchindo John Bosco’s well executed set piece, was bundled to the back of the net by Mael Dindjeke, to put the Abakwa boys one goal up at half time.

Coach David Pagou started the second segment with a tactical substitution for PWD, taking out forward, Neloh Kevin and bringing on Zoospiro. PWD was again forced to another substitution, when Owen Mbeh Mikel was injured and ceded his place to Ahudu Lukong.

More positive play from PWD, with a lot of tackling and midfielder duels, provided much space in the attacking third for Leon Boyomo and Ahudu Lukong. A 66th minute corner kick, was the turning point of the game, as Nchindo John Bosco’s perfect cross, met Leon Boyomo, who slotted it past goalkeeper Souleman Souleman, to put PWD goals up. It was Leon Boyomo’s fifth goal of the season, that capped two assist for Nchindo John Bosco.

Desperate attempts from Colombe’s coach, Gabriel Zabo to salvage the situation failed, as he took out Francis Elimbi, and Fabrice Onana, to bring in Andy Raphael Dikongue and Patrick Bokagne.

PWD defended commandingly and should have got a third, if not of wayward shooting from Ahudu Lukong.

The results means PWD maintains their second position on the league’s table with 25 points, just three points adrift of league leaders, Cotonsport of Garoua. The Abakwa boys have also extending their clean sheet run, to seven games without conceding, thereby marching Panthere’s record in the opening seven games of the season.
