The head coach of Bamboutos FC of Mbouda, Laurent Djam says his side needs to improve on their defensive compartment, ahead of their next games.

The gaffer was speaking shortly after he supervised Bamboutos’ 5#2 spanking of Colombe of the Dja and Lobo, in the opening match of the championship, played at the Amadou Ahidjo stadium on Friday. He said “We did a good job today, the players responded positively, but we still have lots of difficulties, because at a certain moment we were very poor defensively and I think we have to correct that, but I will say congrats to the players who answered present in all the actions“.

Bamboutos conceded two goals in the game largely from some defensive lapses. With five goals scored and three precious points harvest on day one of the championship, many have tipped Bamboutos as one of the favorites in the title race. But Laurent Djam highlighted the objectives of his side. “The first objective is to maintain the team in the league one. We are a club that is just from gaining promotion back in the top tier, and we have to be honest to say that we need to do everything possible to maintain and after, if there is any bonus, why not”.

The 2019 league one winning coach with UMS, promised his team will work hard in their next games, and see how they can collect more points.

The former Botafogo of Douala, Lion Blessé and Eding sport gaffer, returned to the Mangwa boys, after he had managed the club back in 2017.

The experienced tactician is already making his presence felt, and it seems Laurent Djam and Bamboutos FC, is a match made in heaven.
