FOVU club of Baham has ended PWD’s run of nine unbeaten games, with a 2#1 over the Abakwa boys, in a day 16 game of the Cameroon league one championship played at the Bafoussam Omnisport stadium on Sunday.
A nine minute opener from Alex Hermol Djatche who benefited from a defensive lapses from PWD, set the agenda for Fovu club of Baham, who dominated proceedings in the entire first segment.
PWD lacked focus especially in the midfield which has hitherto been their strong point, with Ibakeleki Hulrich, Nchindo John Bosco, Nde Collins and Mbah Louiz, failing to march up FOVU’s midfield dominance. Apart from the midfield, the Abakwa boys were caught wanting in the left side of their defense, where Malachi Nfor failed to fill the voids left by an injured Boung Joel.
Burinyuy Derrick, Nyaba Brain and Goalkeeper Rodrigue Zame all made crucial interceptions to prevent FOVU from creating more damage. On the other end, Captain Arsene Carmel Mbe and his teammates defended solidly, leaving Leonel Ntebeu and Co to doing the running up front.
Coach David Pagou of PWD effected his first substitution of the game before the break, when he took out calamitous Malachi Nfor and brought in Neloh Kelvin. When center referee Golike Roger send both sides back to the dressing room for the break, it was a one nil advantage for home side, FOVU of Baham.
PWD returned from the break with more energy and fighting spirit, with Leon Boyomo, Ahudu Lukong and Mael Dindjeke fully in command of the attack line. Ibakeleki Hulrich and Nchindo John Bosco lined up some excellent passes across the median, while makeshift right back, Neloh Kelvin, justified his coach’s decision to bring him on.
Mael Dindjeke in an offensive move 18 minutes into the second segment, switched a cross intended for Leon Boyomo, which was blocked with the hand by one of FOVU’s defenders, for a penalty advantage PWD. Leon Boyomo stepped forward and buried the ball pass goalkeeper Armand Kuipou, for his ninth goal of the season, as he brought the match to a parity.
Coach Fotouo TCHINDA Zacharie of FOVU substituted Alexandre Nsangue Nsia with Palis Olivier Dzomene, but there was certainly going to be late drama, as PWD’s goalkeeper, Rodrigue Zame failed in his attempt to dribble Stephane Kamaha seven minutes from time, as the latter stopped the move and slotted the ball to the back of an empty net.
A tearful Rodrigue Zame collapsed to the green turf, and all efforts from PWD to get a much need equalizer, were nullified.
