Stade Renard’s attacking Midfielder, Jules Hypolite Thio Tadoum has been designated Man of the Match the Cameroon cup final pitting AS FAP of Yaounde against Stade Renard of Melong, that was played on Sunday June 30th, 2019.
The left footed left-winger who wore the Jersey number 19 on the day, would not only be remembered for his sense of fashion; the dash of yellow on his dreadlocks, rather, for his special brace that helped Stade Renard take home their first ever trophy.
Jules Hypolite Tadoum was on target twice in the final which his side won 3#2. A five man commission, headed by Etienne Sonkeng, Kunde Emmanuel, Birwe Minkreo, Simon Lyonga and Serge Noah was put in place to determine the man of the match. According to the commissions report, Jules Hypolite Thio Tadoum had 23 points, ahead of his teammate, Aristide Jordan Kouayep who had 11 points and FAP’s Midfielder Achille MBA with 4 points.
The 19-year-old is at the peak of his powers and showed exactly that with two goals: the first one coming at the 4th minute when the winger burst through the left side of the pitch with pace and side footed the ball, into body of goal keeper Mbebe Christian – the ball ricochet back on the forwards shin from the goal keeper’s parry. That goal sent Stade Renard in front and settled early nerves for the men in white and green stripes.
The forward with low center of gravity (1,70m) therefore bags home the sum of 1 million FCFA, and fills the shoes of Eding Sport’s Baliang Francis, who won the same award last year.
The ceremony to hand over the award, took place at the FECAFOOT head office in Yaounde this Monday, and was presided over by FECAFOOT’s first vice president, Aboubakar Konate.
Last 5 winners of the Award are;
2019-Jules Thio (Stade Renard)
2018- Bailang Francis (Eding Sport FC)
2017-Alain Nandjou(New Stars)
2016-Franck Boya (APEJES)
2015-Tiencheu Marie (UMS)
Thio and his Renard team mates will represent Cameroon in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
