After just 10 playing days in the league, Brenda Tabe has bagged home 14 goals, making her the outright top scorer in the championship. The name Brenda Tabe may not really be popular in the football circles in the country, but her rise to prominence within a short notice, has been remarkable. The latest victims of Brenda’s red hot form, was Eding FF, in match day 10 of the Cameroon women’s league, as she fired AWA’s first and last goals , to give her side a comfortable 4#2 win.

Her goal poaching prowess have been next to none. She finished top scorer in the second tier championship last year while in the books of center regional second tier side Lekie FC, and has been a nuisance to defenders this season. She says her secret is hard work. ” I’ve been working hard, physically I’m strong and our coach has been given me personal training sessions in front of goal”.

She added “My targets for this season though it’s my first year the top tier, I’m going to do my best, even if I don’t end up been the top scorer in the league, I should be at least amongst the top scorers”.

Coming in to match day 10, Brenda was sharing the top spot in the goal scorer chat, with Louves MINPROFF’s Flora Kameni, but the later did not get to the score sheet, given Brenda the opportunity to make the spot solely hers. She however declared her administration of the great qualities that Flora Kameni posses. ” Everyone knows Kameni (Flora), she is one of the best forwards in Cameroon presently. She knows how to keep her composure in front of goal, which is what I’m lacking. But I’m still very happy for what I’m doing in my first year in the first Division “.

AWA FF has been impressive this season, proving to be a veritable title challengers to Louves MINPROFF, who are currently four better than them on the league’s table. AWA FF has recorded eight wins in 10 games and two draws, scoring 29 goals in that process (Brenda Tabe scoring 14 of the 29 goals), and conceding just six goals. The 15_year old forward is satisfied with their performance this far.

” I’m very satisfied with the performance of my team, it’s true that it’s my first year with AWA FF. I’m very happy because I was not expecting to be regular starter, given where I’m coming from, but my coach has great confidence in me and is giving me the opportunity to play and I give all thanks to God”.

Brenda Tabe recently won the award of the top scorer in the second division, during the OG7 awards. But she says there is a big demarcation between second tier and the top tier championship. “This is first division, and there is lots of competition, not like it’s the case with second division”.

Brenda Tabe originates from Bayangi in the southwest Region, and has had spells with southwest regional outfits like Dream soccer, and Black star Rovers. The combative center forward is strong in aerial duels, and clinical in front of goal. If she continues with with form, then it’s certainly a pointer for a promising future for Cameroon women’s football.
