Bamboutos FC of Mbouda and Canon Sportive of yaounde shared the spoils in a late day 21 fixture of the Cameroon league one Championship. In what was seemingly a lackluster game for both sides, the major talking point at the Ngoa Ekelle Stadium, was another five star display from Bamboutos’ defense kingpin, Pierre François Aurelien Etame Ngombe.

In one of those rare nocturnal matches and the huge turnout, many fans were marvelled by the Bamboutos’ number 6 shirt’s ice cool defending. Etame Ngombe never got a foot wrong throughout the game, and when Canon was pressing hard through Yannick Tagne Wambo and Julien Patrice Belemb, Etame and captain Rostand Moukap, provided a good cover for goalkeeper Patrick Lionel Kibyen who was between the sticks.

Speaking to reporters shortly after the game, Pierre François Aurelien Etame Ngombe said “individually I think I had a good game. That’s what I’m paid to do and I have to do it everyday. I have to give the best of myself and this was just an occasion to show that I am a very important element and collectively I think we gave our best but we could not get the results. We will stay concentrated and continue to work hard in our next games”.

Bamboutos FC was without four of their key players, as Midfield maestro, Mark O’Ojong Nkongho and forwards Rene Ndi, Pange Lobe and Hansi Muller Mbappe, are all in camp with Cameroon’s Intermediate lions. Many were of the opinion that the absence of these key elements, made things difficult for the Mangwa Boys, but Etame played down those claims.

“Bamboutos recruited very good players. We knew that at a certain moment there are some players that will not be there and they were not there today. I think those who replaced them actually demonstrated that we can count on them”, said Etame.

Bamboutos will next face Panthere Sportive of Nde in a West regional derby, but the former Njalla Quan Sports Academy, Eding sport and Club African man says they will prepare game just like any other game.

“We will prepare in good conditions and we will take it match after match, with more hard work and concentration, and try to correct the errors of the past matches”.

Bamboutos FC is five points shy of league leaders cotonsport of Garoua, and Pierre François Aurelien Etame Ngombe is confident that Bamboutos can clinch their first ever league one title this year.

Etame has played 20 of his side’s 21 league games this season, helping them in picking up 33 points and keeping 11 clean sheets.
