Kumbo Strikers, cup of Cameroon winners in the year 2000 have booked their ticket for second round of the cup of Cameroon preliminary in the North West region.
The club founded in 1992 saw off fellow regional league clubs, Vision Athletics 4#1 Friday March 12 at the CBC school field in Nkwen.
After failing to provide complete Covid -19 test results, Vision Athletics started the match with 9 players against a complete Kumbo Strikers squad that mounted pressure on Vision Athletics from the start of the match.
Kumbo Strikers got the opener late in the first half courtesy of a Desire Binsinla volley in the 18yards of Vision Athletics.
Kumbo Strikers maintained the offensive show in the second half as playmaker, Akem Valdirrama scored from the penalty spot increasing their lead to 2 nil.
Seemingly comfortable with their 2 nil lead, Kumbo Strikers were found wanting after a defensive blunder led to an own goal via defense man Bernard Maikinyuy.
Infuriated by the flop, Kumbo Strikers went all in as they quickly responded with another goal by Valdirrama Akem from the penalty spot.
All hopes seemed lost as Vision Athletics played for the time which unfortunately didn’t last, as Kumbo Strikers scored from a set piece about 25m from the goalpost courtesy of Beltus Tahven, sealing the win for Kumbo Strikers who back home their first victory in the 2020/2021 season 4-1.
Last season, Kumbo Strikers were eliminated at the last round of the qualifiers by Universal Soccer Academy and they are now looking to be one of the three teams to represent the North West regional league at the national level.
