▪️Ivo Chi reveals that Samuel Eto’o’s win was never in doubt.
Cameroon international football agent Ivo Chi Azeh, has insisted that they were confident that Samuel Eto’o Fils was going to emerge victorious in the FECAFOOT Elections.
Eto’o claimed maximum votes to land himself the Cameroon FA’s top job, during the FECAFOOT Elective General Assembly that took place on Saturday December 11, at the Monte Febe Hotel in Yaoundé. With 43 votes out of the 74 votes to his advantage, the former FC Barcelona forward became the 17th FECAFOOT president.
Eto’o’s impending victory as the Cameroon FA’s boss, was never in doubt for those closer to the legendary NINE shirt. One of them Ivo Chi, was initially a candidate for the same post, but pulled out along the way, and rallied his support to Samuel Eto’o.
“The day was a bit longer because of the waiting, but we were confident. We did what needed to be done and we were hoping that with the right decisions, we’re gonna make it,” Ivo told reporters at the Monte Febe Hotel shortly after the elections.
“We played our cards the right way. I saw a lot of stuff like the president Elect was taking pictures with top officials instead of doing that with delegates, like was the case with our opponents. But you can see that the same delegates that took pictures with the incumbent, still voted for us. We did the right things that were supposed to be done and I think with 43 votes against 31, the victory is clear,” Ivo added.
Samuel Eto’o Fils has set a four years agenda in his manifesto, with the main aim to rebrand Cameroon Football. The Cameroon local leagues have been in purgatory for the past years, and the immediate challenge for the Eto’o led bureau, will be to bring back normalcy.
“We just won today, but the president has a project and I think we’re just going to follow that project. The president knows that the task ahead is a difficult one, but we accept this task and I think the president is the right person to handle it.”
The football agent thinks the president Elect should give a listening ear to everyone, for the betterment of Cameroon football.
“I think he should listen to everybody, having audience even with the opponents. They might have some great ideas, so we stretch our aims to them. Football is for all Cameroonians, it is not for me or Samuel Eto’o, it is for everyone. So anyone who has good ideas, we open our arms and receive it and see if we can make it happen.
Origin of the North West region of Cameroon Ivo Chi thinks his Region stands to benefit a lot from the current bureau, especially in terms of football infrastructure.
“It is unimaginable that we have about Five elite teams from the North West Region and we don’t have a stadium. I spoke to the president (Samuel Eto’o) about it even before we won, and it is one of his top priorities, to get Bamenda a stadium.”
Amongst other juicy projects Eto’o is targeting, is the constitution of 10 stadia across the country.
The Samuel Eto’o Fils led bureau, have four years to right the wrongs of his predecessors.
