A death has been announced of former Tonnerre Kalara club president, Stephane Semengue. The 54_year_old died in the early hours of Thursday April 16 in Yaounde, after an illness.
According to sources closed to TKC, Stephane Semengue has been sick for about a month, before his situation recently got worst in the last three days. Stephane is the son of one of Cameroon’s most decorated Army General, Pierre Semengue, who is former president of TKC and president of the suspended Cameroon professional league.
Stephane Semengue has been in the ranks of the Legendary Tonnerre Kalara Club since his youthful age, when his father, Pierre [Semengue] , was president of the club. He has Masterminded the comeback of Tonnerre Kalara Club to the Elite one twice, first in 2010, alongside the late Emile Onambele Zibi and again in the 2017_2018 season, when Tonnerre Kalara Club was promoted to the elite One championship, alongside PWD of Bamenda and Avion Academy of Nkam.
Unfortunately with the internal squabbles within the ranks of TKC, Stephane Semengue’s faction was declared illegal by the Cameroon Football Federation, while the Essomba Mani’s faction is currently playing in the Cameroon top flight.
Stephane’s death came as a shocker to Cameroon Football family, that has recently lost Former Racing boss, Samuel Wembe.
Amongst those who reacted to his death, is PWD’s president, Abunde Pascal, whole took to Twitter and wrote “So so sad to get the news of your passing away brother. You have been a great actor of Professional football in Cameroon, A great leader, it was nice having you as a colleague. RIP Stephane Semengue”.
Serge Tamba a close associate for decades couldn’t voice his feelings: “Stephane Semengue just left us, it’s sad. My brother where are you going to?”
The passing away of Stephane Semengue, is a great lost the TKC family and football in Cameroon, given his immense contributions to help the Legendary club stay afloat.
May his soul rest in peace.
