One of the revelation of the 2019/2020 football season in the Cameroon League one championship is arguably 20-year-old Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) of Bamenda striker, Fonkoia Tongua Emmanuel Regis.

The former Foncha Street FC of Bamenda striker scored nine (9) goals without any penalty during the 2019/2020 football season, which is his first in the top tier of Cameroon football. His nine goals helped him finished third on the goal scorers chart of the championship.

On match day 16 in the 2019/2020 football season, Tongua Emmanuel Regis, became the third player to score a hat trick in Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) of Bamenda’s 5#1 demolition of Dragon of Yaoundé. His hat trick was the fastest of the season. He took just 14 minutes to realize that exploit.

After the match, YOSA’s gaffer, Nkabyo Martin Noumeh described the young lad as “a young player with plenty of quality”.

“He got the will, he is ready to work and he proves it during training sessions”, Coach Nkabyo Martin said.

Born on July 1, 2000, in Nkwen Bamenda, the 1.88cm player began his football career with the U-14 to U-16 team of Foncha Street FC from 2013 to 2016 where he scored 29 goals.

In the 2016/2017 football season, Tongua Emmanuel Regis played for Foncha Street FC in the North West regional league where he scored 18 goals in 16 matches.

In the 2017/2018 football season still with Foncha Street FC, the young prolific striker scored 13 goals in 15 matches.

From 2015 – 2016, Fonkoia Tongua Emmanuel Regis was part of the U-17 national football team where he played three matches and scored three goals.
In 2018, he preselected for the Cameroon U-20 football team training camp.

Meanwhile, during the 2018 University Games, a competition that brings together higher institutions of learning in Cameroon, Fonkoia Tongua Emmanuel Regis won the best player award for the male football competition.

Fonkoia Tongua Emmanuel Regis is a good technician with way he handles the ball. He uses his right leg to near perfection and he is also good with his left leg. He has an instinct of a goal scorer, discipline and very athletic.
