PWD Social club of Bamenda were crowned champions of the Cameroon league one Championship for the 2019/2020 football season, the first time the North West outfit was achieving such a milestone, in their 58 years of existence.

One of the major attractions in PWD’s title winning campaign, was the exploits of their experienced forward, Leon Boyomo, who scored 11 of the club’s 36 goals, emerging as the league’s top scorer, and also earning a call up into Cameroon’s intermediate lions squad, that was preparing for the African Nations Championship.

As PWD prepares to defend their crown in the 2020/2021 season and also represent Cameroon in the CAF champions league, there is uncertainty if the 26_year_old former A.S Patronage forward will stay with the Abakwa Boys.

Leon Boyomo in action for PWD

In fact the head coach of PWD, David Pagou, who recently penned a contract extension, has revealed that Leon Boyomo is no longer part of his plans for next season.

Speaking on a sports show “Mfandena“, over Sky one radio in Yaounde on Tuesday June 23, 2020, Pagou revealed that Boyomo had informed him that he is not comfortable with the club, and wants to move on.

“The guy told me bluntly that he is not comfortable. I brought him to Bamenda, he signed a two year contract and now he wants me to understand that he signed just one year. From this moment, I don’t beg players. I was the one who made Leon Boyomo who he is now. I told him openly that I will let the president know that I’m no longer counting on him, and that when he finds a team, the president will release him. I told him bluntly that I was no longer counting on him and that from now on he is no longer part of my workforce.”, said David Pagou.

The management of PWD is determined to keep 80 percent of the players that won  them their maiden league title, but are eyeing reinforcement from within and out of the country.

Kick442.com understands that the club’s hierarchy is currently negotiating with a series of players, after coach Pagou had submitted a list of players he wants to reinforce his squad, ahead of the next season.

It is now looking certain that PWD might be without Leon Boyomo next term, and should be in the market for another striker.
