The draw for the 2019 National interpools, will take place this Friday August 2, at the FECAFOOT head office in Tsinga, Yaounde, as from 3pm. The draw was initially scheduled on Wednesday July 24, 2019, but was postponed due to the FECAFOOT general assembly that took place that same week.
The national interpools is a Playoff tournament that serves as qualifiers for the Cameroon second tier Championship, and groups Champions of the various regional leagues in the country.
This year’s competition promises to produce fireworks, as some old names in Cameroon Football, are making a comeback in the country’s elite stage. Volcan du Noun defeated Bombardier FC 2#0 some weeks ago to become the west region’s flag bearers, while another old name, Étoile Filante of Garoua was crown North regional Champions, and will be eyeing a place in the elites, after close to 32 years in the inferior division. Over the weekend, PWD of Kumba, was crowned Southwest Champions, as the Public Works Department of Kumba will want to do what Victoria United has failed to do for the past years, while Olympic FC of Biwoung is the representative of the south region, just like Stade FC of Bertoua, for the East.
About three regional League’s are still going on, with the other regional representatives in the interpools, to be known in the days ahead. The Northwest regional finals pitting Rainbow FC of Bamenda against FONCHA Street FC, will take place next weekend, while the center regional Champions will also be known this weekend.
The last national interpools were played in pools form, with the 10 teams grouped in three pools. One pool had four teams, while the other two had three teams each. It is still to be seen if the format of the competition will change this term.
Last year, AS FAP of Yaounde, Leopard Sportive of Douala and OFTA of Kribi, were the three lucky teams to get tickets to the league. Three other teams will certainly follow their full steps this season.
