Less than 24 hours after the executive committee of the Cameroon Football federation, FECAFOOT , made public a communique suspending the Cameroon professional football league, the president of the said league, retired Army General, Pierre Semengue, has fired back, calling on the members of the league to stay calm and not be distracted.
In a communique dated Friday August 23, 2019, Pierre Semengue accused FECAFOOT of not inviting the president of the professional football league, to the said Executive committee meeting of August 22, which to him voilates article 48 of the status of FECAFOOT.
The communique added “The resolution to suspends the league sounds like Retaliation following the move taken by the league, to challenge the resolutions of the Extraordinary General Assembly of the FECAFOOT of last July 28, in competent judiciary organs”.
It further states that, “the league is contesting the discriminatory manner in which FECAFOOT introduced in its text, fixing the age limit of the president of the professional football league, to 75 years, which is in voilation of article 4.1 of the status of FIFA”.
General Pierre Semengue ended by calling on all the members of the members of the cameroon professional Football League, to stay calm, and not be distracted. He also invited the various clubs to continue their preparations for the new Football season, which is expected to begin on September 1, 2019.
