The intermediate lions of Cameroon have called off their fifth training camp amidst growing concerns over the spread of the Coronavirus in Cameroon.

Head coach Yves Clement Arroga and some 31 players were in their fight camping that has been taking place at the CAF excellence Center in Mbankomo, but now a press release from the Team media officer of the team indicates that the fifth camping has been halted with the players going back to their respective families.

The note reads “Following the indefinite pool postponement of the African Nations championship CHAN Cameroon 2020 by the Confederation of African Football CAF as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the fifth training camp of the Intermediate Lions has been halted. The Players will be allowed to returned to their families this day March 18, 2020 and to be reconvened when need be.We encourage families, friends and club officials to understand that these players have a national assignment ahead and consequently should assist them in any way possible to keep them fit for the pending national duty”.

“We remain resolute in our determination to win the competition anytime it is programmed”.

The fifth training has been ongoing for about a week now, during which the intermediate lions have played two friendly games against cameroon league one sides APEJES and Dragon, winning one and drawing one.

The calling off of the fifth training camp for the intermediate lions comes just a day after the confederation of African football in collaboration with the Cameroon government decided to indefinitely postpone the 2020 African Nations championship that was initially scheduled for April 2020.
