The head coach of Colombe sportive of the Dja and Lobo, Gabriel Zabo Toze, has insisted that the main ambitions of his team is to avoid relegation from the Cameroon top tier Championship.
Colombe snatched a late winner against Tonnerre Kalara Club on match day 20, to maintain their third position on the league’s table and level on points with second placed PWD of Bamenda.
Speaking to the press the win over Tonnerre, Gabriel Zabo said “we believed that we could score, and we kept fighting till the goal came”.
Colombe is in red hot form, with four wins and one defeat in their last five games, and have recorded a total of nine wins, six draws and five defeats in 20 games. Asked if this form can lead Colombe to a title challenge, Gabriel Zabo reiterated that their objectives remains securing a place in the top flight for the next season.
“Our ambition is to maintain in the Elite one. Colombe has always been around the relegation zone for the last seasons and for us to maintain, we still need to win more points to be assure. Any other thing that comes after that, is just bonus”.
Colombe has witnessed a massive turn around since the former A.S Matelots tactician took over late last season, but he attributes all sides fine form to hard work.
“This children are doing exactly what we are asking from them during training sessions, so congrats to them”.
Colombe will next play two home games against Dragon of Yaounde, and Cotonsport of Garoua, as they fight to keep their third spot.
