The president of the Republic of Cameroon Paul Biya, has given out special instructions for school and working hours to be reajusted, to permit more people to turn out for AFCON matches.
According to a communique from the secretary general at the Prime minister’s office Fouda Serephin Magloire, on the high instructions of president of the republic, the Prime minister, head of government (Joseph Dion Ngoute), is informing the National community that during match days of AFCON 2021;
▪️ School and academic activities will hold as from 7:30am to 1pm
▪️ professional activities will hold as from 7:30am to 2pm.
This exceptional measure they say will be effectively implemented in the public sector as from Monday 17 January 2022 until Friday February 04, 2022, has as objective to allow Cameroonians to take part in the continental event that is ongoing in their country.
The 2021 AFCON kicked started in Cameroon since Sunday January 09, 2022, with five cities hosting games. Two pools are based in Yaoundé, one in Bafoussam, Douala, Limbe and Garoua.
The turnout in some games of AFCON 2021 this far has been low, drawing criticisms from across the globe.
Since the start of the second round of group games, there has been and increase in the turnout especially in Bafoussam and Yaoundé.
Initially, some schools and Academic activities run from morning till late in the evening. This special measure from president Paul Biya, is definitely going to improve more turnout in stadia, in the days ahead
