APEJES and New Stars Players Walking into the Pitch

The second phase of the Cameroon league two and league one championships, will kick-off on January 25th and 26th respectively. This was disclosed by the president of the Technical Transitional committee running the Cameroon professional league, Aboubakar Alim Konate, during his media outing on Thursday.

The first round of the championship came to an end on Sunday January 12, 2019, following day 17 games in the league one Championship and there were suspense on when the league will be resuming fo the second phase. But now the doubts have been cleared, as clubs will have about two weeks of rest, before getting back to action, for the crucial second round of the championship.

Giving the balance sheet of the first round the championship, Alim Konate sounded satisfied with how the league has been unfolding this far.

“One major point of satisfaction we have noticed in this first round, is the display from our referees. I’m not the one saying it, I have listened to the main actors, who are the club presidents and players, and according to them, there has been a great improvement from the referees”, said Aboubakar Alim Konate

He added ” we have also noticed a progressive return of the crowd in our various play grounds. It is an effort that we have to continue putting in, especially through communication”.

Concerning the expenditures for the first round, Aboubakar Alim Konate disclosed that a sum of 294 Millions Francs was given to league one and two clubs before the start of the season, plus an additional 96 million Francs, as subvention for the clubs to buy equipment.

The running of the first phase of the championship, has also seen the Technical Transitional committee spending the sum of Ninthy Seven million, Nine Hundred and twenty nine thousand, three hundred and fifty Francs (97,929350FCFA), for the elite one, and fifty four million, three hundred and seventeen thousands, one hundred francs (54,317100FCFA), for the elite two championship.

This money they say was used in paying the various match officials, security, Medical and sanitation, Marking of the fields, Communication, amongst others.

Cotonsport of Garoua finished top of the league one Championship at the end of the first round , while it is possible for Astres of Douala to end round one at the top of the league two, as they Round-off their series of delayed games.
