Tonnerre Kalara club of Yaounde has been eliminated from the 2019 Cameroon Cup, following their 2#1 defeat by Colombe Sportive of the Dja and Lobo, in a 16 final game played this Friday, at the FECAFOOT Technical Center in Odza.
The encounter was a remake of the last playing day in the first phase of the League one Championship, and the third time the two sides were meeting this season.
Colombe opened scores at the 17th minutes through Fabrice Onana, and dominated play till after the half hour mark, when Tonnerre drew level through Florent Mounoutouang was got his second goal in the Cup this season. All attempts from Colombe to add a second before the break, were nullified by the vigilant Pierre Sylvain Abogo on goal for TKC.
The second segment began with the same pace, till the 71st minutes, when Center Referee Afang Franklin awarded Colombe a penalty, following what he ajudged was a dangerous tackle on Patrick Bokagne. Tonnerre’s center back was red carded for that incident, and Fabrice Onana converted the penalty, to put Colombe on infront again.
Ivan Bruno Mengaptche will then receive a late booking for time wasting, but Coach Zabo Gabriel and his boys held tight till the end. Tonnerre joins fellow regional sides like Canon, APEJES, and Renaissance that have all been dumped out of the 2019 Cup of Cameroon.
For Colombe, their next stop over is against another Center Regional side and 1982 winners Dragon Sportive of Yaounde.
