2018 Cameroon cup finalist, Lion Blessé of Foutouni has been eliminated from this year’s edition, following their 2#0 defeat by Cotonsport of Garoua at the FECAFOOT center in Odza this Wednesday.
Cotonsport once again showed their desire of winning a domestic double, with a solid performance against League two side lion Blessé.
Lion Blessé never looked
Like the wounded lions, though they contained the cotonites for more than half an hour, with Basile Yamkam and Paul Stephane Ngah stopping Daouda Kamilou and Arnaud Sibiri on several occasions.
The crack appeared on the wall at the 38th minutes, when left back, Serge Andoulou raced up front, and powered home a left footed drive, to put the cotonites one goal up.
Patrick Anaba and his teammates will then keep goalkeeper Basa Djeri busy in the early stages of the second segment. Ngweni Ndasi and Bienvenu Banga defended expertly, as Thierry Tchuente commanded the Midfield.
Lion Blessé had hopes of a potential come back, until the 62nd minutes, when Serge Andoulou collected a loose ball from over 30 yards, and got goalkeeper Willy Armand Noah beaten, for his second goal of the game.
The cotonites kept pressing, but could not add to the score sheet. Cotonsport therefore moves through to the quarter finals, while they prepare for the league one title decider against UMS on Sunday.
