50_year_old tactician, David Pagou has extended his stay with Cameroon league one champions, PWD Social club of Bamenda, for one more season.

Coach David Pagou created history as the coach who won the first ever league title for the Abakwa Boys, when he unexpectedly lead an underrated PWD side that barely survived relegation in the 2018_2019 season, to the top of the league one championship in the just ended campaign.

Pagou took over as lead trainer for the North West outfit on September 17, 2019, replacing Augustine Tchoupo. The former Cosmos and Renaissance coach, penned a one season contract, which was to expire at the end of the 2019_2020, but now PWD has agreed to extend his stay with the club, as they target great things in the upcoming season.

Both parties agreed on Saturday June 20, 2020, on a deal that will keep David Pagou at the club, till June 2021. The one time Canon of Yaounde’s coach, has been in charge of the Abakwa Boys for 28 competitive games, recording 13 wins, Eight draws and seven defeats.

His coaching philosophy attracted lots of admirations from the football loving people of Bamenda, with his trademark 3_5_2 formation, that PWD used throughout the 2019_2020 season.

Not only did he transformed the team from a relegation battler, to a title contender and eventually Champions, he also qualified the team for their very first ever CAF Champions league, and a comeback to the continental scene, after 16 years.

Reacting shortly after his contract extension, coach David Pagou said;

“It is work that started since last season, so it is just a matter of continuing with what we started. The players are progressing, so I started something that I want to continue. That’s why we agreed to continue with that challenge. The group is still young, so we have to help them grow”.

Pagou now has the a challenging task, to lead PWD in three competitions next season, the CAF Champions league, Cameroon league one championship and the Cameroon cup.

Kick442.com understands that other league one sides notably Stade Renard of Melong and Cotonsport of Garoua, had made approaches to lure the coach from Bamenda. His new contract comes to confirm his commitment to finishing the project he started last season.
