Pairings for the eighth final of the 2021 African Nations Cup Ongoing in Cameroon, are now known, following last group E and F games played this Thursday in Douala and Limbe.
Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Tunisia and Gambia, completed the list of 16 teams to take part in the next round of the competition.
With defending champions Algeria suffering a three one defeat against Ivory Coast, it automatically qualified Comoros who finished third in group C, with four points.
The coelacanths of Comoros, in their first AFCON participation, created an upset, eliminating four time winners, Ghana. They will now first host and five times winners, the indomitable lions of Cameroon in th eighth final, on Monday January 24, in Yaoundé.
Burkina Faso who finished second in group A, will faced the Panthers of Gabon, who were runners up in group C, behind the Atlas lions of Morocco. The Burkina Faso versus Gabon game will be played at the Limbe Omnisports stadium on January 23.
The Teranga Lions of Senegal, though haven scored just one goal this far, finished top of Group B, with five points, and will stay in Bafoussam to face Cape Verde, who finished third in group A with four points, and qualified as one of the four best thirds.
Ivory Coast Finished top of Group E, but now have a big mountain to climb against seven times winners, Egypt, who finished second in group D, behind the super Eagles of Nigeria. The game will be played at the Douala Japoma stadium January 26.
The Atlas lions of Morocco, winners of Group C with seven points, will face the Flames of Malawi at the yaounde Omnisports stadium on January 25th. The Flames of Malawi finished third in Group B, with four points, and will be making their first appearance at the eighth final. The game will be played at the Yaoundé Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium.
Guinea will face Gambia, who finished second in Group F, in Bafoussam.
The super Eagles of Nigeria, the only team to have won all their three group games, will played the Tunisia who finished third in Group F. The game will be played in Garoua.
Equatorial Guinea who have been impressive this far and finished runners up in group E, will clash with Mali, the Winners of group F, at the Limbe Omnisport Stadium.
The eighth final games begins on Sunday January 23, with the Burkina Faso versus Gabon fixture, as Nigeria face Tunisia that same day.
