Cameroon’s Pierre Kunde Malong had a remarkable first half as Mainz 05 clinched their first win of the season in the German Bundesliga against Hertha Berlin after a thrilling match day four fixture.
It is the first home win for the German club after a tough day two fixture.
Kunde played full time and assisted Robin Quaison to open scores at the 40 minutes to round up a successful first half display at the Opel Arena.
The visitors struck a surprise equalizer before Jeremiah St Juste fired Mainz to victory.
The game ended 2-1 for Mainz 05,the victory ends their winless run at home. Mainz have lost all their three league fixtures so far.
They lost to Frieburg on match day one (3-0), lost a home fixture to Burussia Monchengladbach (1-3) and fell to league champions Bayern Munich (6-1) at the 75000 Allianz Arena last week.
FSV Mainz 05 are presently 16th an 18 team league format.
They play away to Schalke 04 on match day 5.
