Thursday 12th September 2019 will go down in history as the day the Under 18 Girls’ Volleyball team of Cameroon recorded their first win at a World Cup.

The girls of coach Cameroon Rose Baleng picked up their first win this Thursday morning by beating fellow Africans DR Congo by 3 sets to zero in the ongoing World Volleyball championship in their category.

Thursday’s game is one of two classification games Cameroon is involved in.
Cameroon will face Belarus in their second game in Cairo on Friday.

The DR Congo and Belarus games are classification games for the 17th-20th spot in the championship.

Prior to the tournament,
Cameroon coach, Rose Beleng A Ngon told the media that, “This tournament is of a very high level. We have a young team with little experience, but we are here ready for the competition and it will be a great experience for us to play against such opponents”.

After the disappointing performance, coach Rose Beleng A Ngon and her girls will return home and continue to improve on their performance.
