The volleyball Lionesses of Cameroon have returned to the country, after a successfully African women’s volleyball Championship in Egypt. Christelle Nana and her teammates defeated Kenya 3 sets to 2, on Sunday in Cairo, to win their second continental title.
The team touchdown at the yaounde Nsimalen airport, at about 11AM this Monday morning via the Ethiopian airline and on hand to welcome them, was the minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Moulle Kombi.
Thousands of fans turned up to salute the two times African Champions for a job well done. When Captain Christelle Nana emerged with the trophy, the crowd went wild, trying to have a feel of the trophy.
From Nsimalen passing through Odza, to the yaounde center town, anxious onlookers filled the roadsides, to have a view of the most coveted trophy.
With two trophies won in the space of two years, Jean Rene Akono and his girls will need to cement their top spot in the continent, as they prepare for future competitions.
