The Stallions of Burkina Faso have defeated the warriors of Zimbabwe 3#1 in their second group A match in the ongoing Total African Nations Championship.
Burkina Faso’s victory confirms the elimination of the warriors of Zimbabwe from the Total CHAN 2020.
Goals from Issouf Lagnene Sosso, Calvert Jean Kiendrebeogo and Issiaka Ouedraogo were enough for Burkina Faso to set up a group decider against Cameroon on the next playing day in Group A.
KEY MOMENTS
Burkina Faso began the encounter with their usual pacy manner but it was the warriors of Zimbabwe that came close to scoring first through Tafadzwa Jaravani but his shot went off target.
Burkina Faso then reacted and opened scores at the 14tg minute of play with a fine shot by Issouf Lagnene Sosso.
Eight minutes later, Partson Jaure ruined the dream start of the Stallions of Burkina Faso with a superb shot inside the 18metres box to level scores for Zimbabwe.
With the scores levelled, Burkina Faso regained control of the possession and multiplied several chances at goal through Sansah Dah, Mohamed Ouattara and Hamed Belem but all their efforts were dealt with by the defense of Zimbabwe and goalkeeper Chinani Simbabrashe.
SECOND HALF
Burkina Faso started the second half just as they did in the first.
Mohamed Ouattara came close to giving the Stallions the lead but his header was saved twice by Zimbabwe’s goalkeeper Chinani Simbabrashe.
Burkina Faso’s efforts and pressure paid off just ten minutes into the second half when Calvert Jean Kiendrebeogo took advantage of Zimbabwe’s poor defending to score the second goal for his team.
At the 67th minute of play, substitute Issiaka Ouedraogo scored Burkina Faso’s third goal of the match.
All efforts from Zimbabwe to get back into the match proved futile as Burkina Faso held on to secure a comfortable win.
