The Nigeria Amputee Football team will tomorrow file out to play their first game in the 2019 Amputee African Cup of Nations in Angola against Liberia.

The team which jetted out yesterday for Angola for the Africa Nations Cup after so much uncertainty about their participation at the tournament.

According to Fred Edoreh, a keen follower of the team, ”they left on the strength of NFF solidarity support and expected support from the sports ministry.”

He further stated that ”despite low funds, Nigeria Amputee team have landed Angola today for the Africa Amputee Football Nations Cup.

Minimal fund sourced from the Nigerian Football Federation, credit from a travel agent and expectations from sports ministry enabled the team to take off.”

For years, the team has been bemoaned the issue of lack of support from the government and private organizations or individuals.

It took the timely intervention of well meaning Nigerians for the team to participate at the last Amputee world cup arriving a day to their first game.

They lost their group games but were able to win a match before returning home.
